The average American household has thousands of different species of fungus and bacteria. Many are harmless, but some are important:
Some of them can help protect you, others can harm you.
Available NOW for advance pre-order, the Home Biome Test kit will allow you to discover the biome of your home and learn how to optimize it for your family's health.
Launching in early 2020, available now for pre-order at 50% off.
Each sample is inspected to ensure it contains enough material to obtain accurate results.
Each sample is processed to extract bacterial and fungal DNA.
The extracted DNA is replicated millions of times to provide sufficient material to analyze.
Each microorganism is DNA sequenced and compared to a reference sample to identify and categorize it.
Each unique home biome profile is compiled, analyzed, and then compared to the levels of bacteria and fungi in the normal population.
Your final report is reviewed by our functional medicine team and includes action steps and recommendations to optimize your home biome.
By understanding your home biome, you can discover how your home environment impacts the health of you and your family. By making optimizations with the use of environmental probiotics, air purifiers, or other technologies, your home can take an active role in protecting your family's health.
Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) tests use similar PCR technology for species identification, but are limited to identifying just 36 common types of mold. The Home Biome Test covers all of the major types of mold that ERMI tests do, plus everything else sampled as well. This test also identifies & quantifies bacterial organisms, and is intended to give a much more comprehensive picture of your home environment than a standard mold test is capable of.
Your samples will be tested by our laboratory at the Center for Medical Mycology, at the Cleveland Medical Center, using advanced quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and NGS DNA sequencing technology.
Each kit includes: 6 sterile collection swabs, a pre-paid return envelope, usage instructions, and a unique registration ID.
You can collect samples from any 6 surfaces of your choosing. These could include a shower ledge, around a faucet, under sinks, on window sills, and in HVAC ducts. The report will be a composite analysis based on all samples.
Inside each test kit is a card with a unique registration ID. When you are ready to submit samples, visit the registration URL on the card to create a profile and register your kit.
We will begin shipping test kit pre-orders in February 2020. You will be notified by email when your order ships!
